WYCKOFF, N.J. – This week, in celebration of Women’s Equality Day and 100 years since the certification of the 19th Amendment, United States Congressman Josh Gottheimer hosted a virtual conversation featuring “Women for Josh” honorary co-Chairs, faith leaders, and students from the Fifth District.

“One hundred years ago, the 19th Amendment officially became part of the United States Constitution. To celebrate that momentous occasion, I was honored to host a conversation with current leaders from around the District — and with the women who will someday succeed them. Whether it is ensuring equal pay for equal work, closing the disparities in health coverage, or reducing the barriers women face in business, we must all step up. I will keep working in Washington and at home in New Jersey to do my part,” said Congressman Gottheimer.

“On Women’s Equality Day, I was proud to join Congressman Gottheimer and so many future New Jersey leaders to discuss the challenges facing young women seeking to get involved in public service. In 2020, while we have the chance to make history by electing the first female Vice President, we must also elect those who will support women up-and-down the ballot. Josh Gottheimer is such a candidate and we must reelect him in November,” said Assemblywoman Lisa Swain, honorary Co-Chair, “Women for Josh.”

“As women in politics, we have all benefited from the mentorship and support of those who came before us and it is incumbent upon us to be even more proactive in bringing more women to the table. On Women’s Equality Day, I was honored to join Congressman Gottheimer to discuss public service with fellow elected officials and our future leaders. Josh has always supported women’s safety, health, and equality, and the engagement of the next generation on these issues of paramount importance,” said Bergen County Commissioner Tracy Zur, honorary co-Chair, “Women for Josh.”
