Ridgewood, NJ – The six Democratic state legislators representing voters in the Fifth Congressional District announced their endorsement today of Congressman Josh Gottheimer, the latest demonstration of Gottheimer’s near universal support among Democratic leaders and elected officials in his district.
In a letter to Bergen County Democrats, the legislators representing Districts 37 and 38 wrote that, [Gottheimer’s] “record of getting things done and his commitment to our Jersey Values is exactly what we need in Congress. He’s been a leader we can count on to represent our families, and his re-election is critically important to our efforts to maintain our Democratic majority in the House.”
The letter is signed by Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg (LD-37), Senator Joseph Lagana (LD-38), Assemblyman Gordon Johnson (LD-37), Assemblywoman Valerie Huttle (LD-37), Assemblywoman Lisa Swain (LD-38) and Assemblyman Chris Tully (LD-38).
Today’s announcement builds on the substantial support Gottheimer has already received in the District, including Bergen County, home to three quarters of the district’s voters. Gottheimer has already received endorsements from 137 Democratic municipal chairs and local elected officials in Bergen – more than 93% of those in the county.
Governor Phil Murphy and all four Democratic County Chairs in the Fifth District, including Passaic County Democratic Chairman John Currie who also serves as the State Democratic Chairman, have also endorsed Gottheimer.
